This series of lectures will present the rationale for physiologic monitoring under anesthesia, it will describe basic and advanced techniques with specific details on how to recognize when there is a problem with a patient compared to a problem with a monitor or equipment. The following techniques will be described in detail: electrocardiography, arterial blood pressure (doppler, oscillometric, direct), central venous pressure, pulse oximetry, capnometry, blood gases, and cardiac output. A variety of cases will be presented to demonstrate the importance of different monitoring for different levels of care. CE Credits: 1 Hour
